Executive protection for business owners and executives

For owners, managing directors, board members and executives with responsibility and a public profile: protection at appointments, when travelling and in periods of heightened attention. So discreet that it goes almost unnoticed in everyday business.

At a glance

Executive protection for business owners in brief

Calmly planned, handled in confidence and built around your calendar, not the other way round.

What is it about?
Protection for people who attract attention through their position, their company or their decisions. The aim is for appointments, trips and appearances to go ahead as planned, even when the situation is tense.
Who is it for?
For entrepreneurs, business owners, managing directors, board members and executives, for family offices and assistants who plan schedules, and for companies that want to protect specific individuals.
What does it include?
Depending on the situation: a risk analysis, escort protection at appointments, a security driver, protection on business trips and at events, and a protection plan for a longer period.
How discreet is it?
As discreet as it needs to be. Clothing, distance and manner are matched to the appointment. Plans, locations and times are treated in confidence, and as a matter of principle DERLO does not name its clients.
What does it cost?
DERLO bills close protection at a day rate; if it is only needed for a few hours, a minimum of six hours is charged. The total depends on the duration, the number of appointments, travel, the number of close protection officers and whether a security driver is needed. After the consultation you receive a specific quote.
Who is your contact?
Marc Derlich, owner of DERLO Consulting & Protection. He plans every assignment himself, is personally present on most of them, puts the team together and remains your dedicated contact.

Your situation

When protection makes sense

It rarely comes out of the blue. There is usually an occasion that draws attention or makes routines visible.

  • Public appearances

Anyone on stage, in front of the press or at a trade fair is within reach of many people. Including those who were not invited.

    Typical occasions

    • Annual general meetings and press events
    • Trade fair appearances in Cologne and Düsseldorf
    • Talks, galas and award ceremonies
  • Sensitive decisions

Restructuring, dismissals or conflicts with business partners stir up emotions. Not all of them stay in the meeting room.

    Typical occasions

    • Negotiations and termination meetings
    • Staff meetings in a tense atmosphere
    • Meetings with a history of conflict
  • Travel and transfers

Unfamiliar cities, tight schedules, the journeys between airport, hotel and meeting: these are the moments when you have the least control.

    Typical occasions

    • Airport arrivals and transfers
    • Business trips in Germany and abroad
    • Multi-day engagements in other cities
  • Specific warning signs

Threats, unusual attempts at contact or the feeling of being watched. Here, a sober assessment comes first, then action.

    Typical occasions

    • Threatening letters or calls
    • Unusual interest in your home or family
    • Incidents at work

A business day

From pick-up to the last appointment

The critical points are rarely the meetings themselves. They are the journeys in between and the moments when you are expected.

  1. Pick-up

On time, with a planned route and a vehicle that does not stand out.

  2. Arrival

The access route, the entrance and your point of contact are confirmed before you step out of the car.

  3. The appointment

Escort to the door or into the room, depending on what the appointment calls for.

  4. Between appointments

We keep an eye on routes, waiting times and last-minute changes, so you do not have to.

  5. Evening event

A presence in the background at receptions, dinners and events with many guests.

  6. The way back

Vehicle ready, route clear, straight home at the end of the day.

Services

What protection for executives includes

Combined to suit the situation, your calendar and your surroundings, from a single appointment to a longer period.

  1. Risk analysis

Who are you, where do you go, who knows about it and what has changed recently? The answers form the basis for every measure. More on security consulting.

  2. Escort protection at appointments

For individual meetings, negotiations, press events or functions. More on escort protection.

  3. Security driver

Journeys between airport, hotel, office and appointments on planned routes. The driver is part of the security plan, not just the transfer. More on the VIP chauffeur service.

  4. Business travel

Routes, accommodation and contacts prepared in advance, in Germany and abroad. More on international travel protection.

  5. Annual general meetings and corporate events

Protection for board members and speakers, coordinated with the event's security service. More on event security.

  6. Long-term close protection

When a threat persists: a protection plan for everyday life, the home and the family, with several close protection officers if required. More on close protection in Cologne.

Discretion

Protection that blends into the meeting.

Executives are under constant scrutiny: from employees, business partners and the media. Close protection that stands out raises questions nobody should be asking. That is why our appearance is matched to the appointment, not to a fixed standard.

Confidentiality applies within your own circle too. We decide together who needs to know about the plans, whether that is your assistant, your driver or your family. Everything else stays with DERLO.

  • An appearance suited to business appointments
  • Confidential handling of your calendar, locations and times
  • One dedicated contact instead of changing teams
  • Coordination with your assistant, driver and corporate security

Frequently asked questions from business owners

When does executive protection make sense?

When there is a specific reason: public appearances, sensitive decisions, travel or signs of a threat. A confidential initial consultation clarifies whether protection is needed and to what extent. Sometimes advice alone is enough.

How much does executive protection cost?

DERLO bills close protection at a day rate; if it is only needed for a few hours, a minimum of six hours is charged. The price depends on the duration, the number of appointments, travel, the number of close protection officers and whether a security driver is needed. After the consultation you receive a specific quote.

Can the company make the booking?

Yes. The enquiry often comes from the company itself, an assistant or a family office. We agree with you in advance who will be the point of contact during the assignment and who will know about the plans.

Can I book protection for a single appointment?

Yes. Escort protection for a single negotiation, an annual general meeting or an evening event is possible, as is protection over several weeks. DERLO charges escort protection for a minimum of four hours.

Does DERLO also provide protection on business trips?

Yes, in Germany and abroad. Routes, accommodation and contacts are planned in advance, with a security driver if you wish.

How soon can an assignment start?

Short-notice enquiries are possible. Whether an appointment can be covered at short notice depends on the scope, the location and availability. The quickest way is by phone.

Does DERLO hold the required licence?

Yes. DERLO holds a licence for security services under section 34a of the German Trade Regulation Act (§ 34a GewO). Marc Derlich is a certified security and protection specialist.
